it’s the gaskets! watch out ! can turn over or swap side to side , maybe there is better instruction now .. somewhere . This was long ago . I remember looking at impressions on old gasket , but wondering if they had been put in right . By someone else ,,- a mistake ? Carb didn’t work right on sec as found as stated , but however ,,after i Figured it out , it was perfect after getting gaskets right . Big heads up to know about this issue . Then you figure it out . Here are pictures of the primary and secondary venturies.
You can see notches in the bases. Those notches mate with
locating bumps in the carb body.
They can not be installed right on left or left on right.
