Indeed it did smoke the tires on the final test run and he sorted out all the other issues with the linkage and tuning. . The episode just recently ran and I think there was about 4 in total. What I like about Nick is that he not afraid to admit when he unfamiliar or if he is struggling with an issue. On of 300-J segments he fighting like hell with one of carbs but eventually sorted the issue.
I am glad you left comments to dispel the misconceptions. He always invites viewers to share their knowledge, it's the audience... . and I myself am learning more and more about these wonderful cars. I am hooked, line and sinkered in this culture now (thank you Pete Kearing;).
Oh and one other thing, in my initial email I re-read it and it is unintentionally misleading. This is not my J but it is almost exactly like mine except mine has A/C and to the best of my knowledge original. I hope to her ready in time for the show.

Even with a hydraulic cam, that car should incinerate the tires with a full throttle launch with 500 ft-lbs of torque.
