Hello In general with water pumps it can be mentioned that they operate in a balancing act, together with flow/speed, thermostat, cooler, the engine's heat development, etc. Having said that, there are no guarantees that a higher flow rate would create a better cooling of the engine, on the contrary, this could contribute to the opposite that the cooling water passes the cooler at an excessively high speed and the cooler loses efficiency as a result. Safe is stock it has been preceded by deep testing in various environments. You can certainly achieve good heat dissipation with the right combination, but consider all the parameters that come into play! Actually the A/C water pumps had less “water vanes” that the ones without A/C. I believe the A/C ones had six and the ones w/o A/C had eight.

That looks like the AC Delco water pump since the vanes go all the way out to the end of the rotating plate to yield maximum flow, which I want most at low to medium engine speeds such as in congested traffic conditions to keep my engine cool with the a/c running.under high temperature conditions. It is sold under several different names but they are made by the GM subsidiary. I have tried several different ones, but it is the best in my experience.
The last one I bought came from NAPA under their own brand name.
