I took the bracket off the back of the bell housing that holds that little plastic snap in bushing for the throttle shaft.
Since I purchased two of them last month, I had a spare here. The other one is no doubt on the freeway someplace.
I placed it into the brackets and guess what? It does not fit correctly. It is supposed to snap in and flex OUT into the notices. These do not. Therefore, it will of course pop out.
I found that JB Weld makes a 45-minute epoxy that is specifically formulated to bond plastic to steel. I wrapped a center punch with paper towel and then placed a good amount of the epoxy in the groove of the bushing and on the steel bracket.
With the punch in the vise, I then lowered the bracket with the busing down onto it to expand it out as it should be. I then added some more epoxy on the top side.
This morning I popped it off and filed off the stuck paper town from the hole and the sides and now I have a busing, which is reinforces on it sides and it will not move at all in the steel bracket. I slipped it on and it looks good to go.
Of course, the next time it will have to be filed or sanded off. I think I will do what Bob did and rework the bracket to take a brass bushing or a ball joint.
If anyone has an extra one of those brackets and would part with it let me know. So, I can work on the modification.
