I put in one of those fail-safe thermostats as I had a thermostat fail on my first car date when I was a 16-year-old kid. Some 60 miles from home while taking one of the prettiest girls in the high school, to a concert in San Francisco. Try pushing a car out of intersections due to vapor lock with a stuck thermostat with a girl sitting in the car! Some things one never forgets! Ever since then I have been leery of thermostats!
