Nick, I think you nailed it.  The problem is these tags can fall off.  I'm all for using a secondary method of attaching a vin tag on these.  

I'm reaching out to Bonhams to see if they have a picture of the data tag, it's clearly on the car, but I can't see it well in the images.

Looks like a really, really nice car.

I don't know how many people purposely remove the VIN tag when restoring a car or if it just came loose. If mine were loose, I'd be putting some rivets on it.

However Vin tag monkey business can and often does detract from value, raise questions and is often illegal.
