There was a factual thing on this some years back , Kyb shocks actually have a shorter extended length spec ( max) then the original mopar shocks . That said , they are excellent shocks . Various anecdotes plus and minus might have to do with spring condition , — so how far they extend on a lift would vary a bit .including extending toofar . Given how shocks are made, inside , for sure they are not designed to sit fully extended against their end seals supporting an axle . The shaft is thin (?3/8 or 1/2”) so any seal is that size , pushing on it with 300 lbs steady is going to wreck it . I just went with Rock auto , correct spec shocks from their cross reference , selected from top end “ performance “ shocks . Think they are Gabriel ( sp?) . The damping shocks provide is part of suspension design . Making it “ stiffer “ in damping reduces ability to absorb road shocks . Wild claims about shocks curing ills fall short to me, unless the old ones are shot .They are not “ shock absorbers” they are dampeners preventing bouncing on springs . They were misnamed by marketing long ago and it stuck … Can you say upper shock mount keeps coming loose? Just fyi… Jg Sent from my iPhone On Oct 23, 2022, at 2:38 PM, Dyke Ridgley <ridgleyracing65@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:

For those that have an interest, I just pulled out my receipt for the KYB shocks installed on my G. I purchased them from Summit in 2008, 2 each, KYB-KG4507, and 2 each, KYB-KG5511, $38.95 each, not sure which pair is front or rear. I’ve put about 5,000 miles on the car since then and like them a lot. In addition, I just went out and examined them with a flashlight, and see no leaks at all. Prior to the Pasadena meet, I had the car on my 2 post asymmetrical lift, lifting from the frame, bleeding the brakes, changing the oil, and rotating the tires. It was on the lift about two days, and has been many times since the shocks were installed in 2008. No shock oil leaks. Agreed Bob. No reason a two post lift can't be used for maintenance. Shouldn't bother good properly installed shocks. I’m talking about routine work that must be done with the suspension parts hanging. Tire rotation, brake work, or any of the many uses and reasons I, and many shops own a lift. I had my lift for 33 years and have used it on many different cars, never had a problem. Chrysler even shows lift points in the manual, so I beg to differ. Bob J Bob- Generally speaking it is undesirable to store a car long term with the suspension hanging. Especially newer cars with complicated suspension and lots of bushings. Nevertheless the bushings and suspension parts are best stored in their natural, loaded condition. If you want to avoid flat spots on tires put the car on jack stands. But hanging suspension stresses everything including shocks.
