Re: {Chrysler 300} 300F Astrodome question / Ignition Circuit

using an external gauge regulator involves several changes to harness under gauges if car originally had an internal regulator in one of the gauges .  Basically the 12 v feed is moved to this , and the output wire then feeds power to all gauges , important that metal of gauge mount and new regulator itself are solidly grounded .
Jeff has to tell you exactly how . If you miswire of in and out you will blow it up . And possibility to blow all gauges too by burning their heater coils  out with 12v .
Critical to get exact rewiring diagram info from him , do not “ try it” can cause a lot of damage . Has to be perfectly to his plan .
Q2 No — except for the two heavy ammeter stud connections in astrodome ( which if open , = no power to most of  car )  . maybe you have that ? bolt together if trying to operate car off battery with dome out? be sure they or bolt do not touch ground !  ( burned harness)

I am not familiar with Jeff's restoration though I know he does a great job. I do know that he installs an electronic voltage regulator for the instruments to replace the mechanical one that I believe is part of the oil pressure gauge on an F. The resistor thing as you call it is likely the new voltage regulator Jeff install. Give him a call and ask him

Subject: {Chrysler 300} 300F Astrodome question / Ignition Circuit

Good morning from Wisconsin,

I’m preparing to install a Jeff Carter restored astrodome (pictured on the left) in my F.  I noted a resistor type connection on the back that is not present on an unrestored example. I’m not sure if my existing wiring harness has provisions for this resistor thing, as I’m not sure if I had Jeff restore the one that came out of the car.

So, which color wires connect to this thing?

Sidebar, is the ignition “hot” red wire circuit powered through through the astrodome? I ask because yesterday I tried to fire her up without the astrodome installed and I have no power at the ignition switch harness

Thanks in advance for any guidance, Mike
