Hi David Welcome to a great club! I’ve seen a number of replies to your question and all are very valid and may cure the issues you’re experiencing. One other potential sore point on the pre-‘65 cars is a coupling that is at the bottom of the steering shaft that can disintegrate. My TSM is across the street where my K is parked but as I recall it doesn’t have a really detailed schematic of the piece I’m talking about. Upon dismantling my car, it was completely dysfunctional on my K and I originally ascribed it to the steering box (and I did get a core I bought from a club member rebuilt by “Steer and Gear” for a “firm feel”.) When all was said and done I can’t say if it was the steering box or this intermediary junction/Union that was at fault. What I can tell you is that the car wandered wickedly, the steering was vague, and it was, frankly, unsafe to drive. After replacing the steering box and the inserts on the forked the unit that I referenced, the car drives as it should. Not sure if that’s your problem but thought I’d chime in - good luck! I have a steering problem in that I can’t hardly control the car as it’s all over the road. New Coker radials. Where do I start figuring out the problem?
