Chances are, one or both of the U-joints are worn. Did he attempt to have this rebuilt or is it original, as it came from the factory ? Also where is he located ?I rebuilt three mid-to-late-50s Mopar driveshafts this summer. Ball and trunnion in front. Cross in the back. The cross replacement is straighforward. With the B&T, it is crucial that the pin be precisely centered (.003 tolerance), or you will have vibration. Removing the old pin, inserting the new pin and centering the pin are tasks that need to be done at a professional driveshaft place. And then, with someone that has experience with these old-style joints. The local place that I went to (FleetPride in Agawam, MA) had one guy that was familiar with these. Even when he finished the job, I had him mic the pin in front of me and it was off a bit. So he readjusted it until it was perfect. We went thru this routine with all three driveshafts. Trust, but verify.Ron

Subject: {Chrysler 300} Fw: 55 Chrysler 300 DriveshaftForwarding this message from Math Breitbach.Replies to mfbreit@xxxxxxxxx--I have vibration in my drive train & suspect the driveshaft is out of balance, so I took it to drive train shop, but they did not have proper hardware to spin balance. Would you send out a message asking the membership if they know anyone who is equipped to balance this shaft with the old type u-joints.
