Hi guys ,The studebaker club really knows these( great club to join by the way) and John Begian was or is active there , knows everybody . The tech guy is a real genius, Jim Pepper, one of the very best engine / mechanical guys I have ever encountered. He knows... They routinely come in at the top of the “ all stock drags “ with a STOCK stude Lark 4 speed that they get into the 12’s with a guy about 85 driving it . Last time it killed a hemi cuda and 440 six pack .. Embarrassing for mopar! A LARK? Stock? Jim came up with a way to put mopar performance SS leaf springs on larks . Our kind of guy. Our 300’s are 15 second cars . 3 Seconds faster like they are is about 15 car lengths . Staggeringly faster. Stock !! Puts a perspective on a fast stock car . With only 289 or 301” . Smaller than our 318!
I think a Paxton blown avanti went 200 at Bonneville, 289 stude and Paxton were no slouch there either . Remember, this lark was contemporary with H, J ,K . Watch out! So , although Paxton not my thing , I remember a thing he wrote about how much the stuff inside a Paxton has improved . Might be worth contacting Jim Pepper there for advice . And, Out of “class “ we 300 guys have, join the club too ! Great monthly tech stuff ... !
Mention of Bill Frick brings up Studeillac . I wanted one of those so bad about 1960. 53-54 stude coupe with Cad . Fits right in! Lasalle transmission . Bill built quite a few of those for sale. Today 500” cad gets you 12 second car without opening the motor — right out of a limo . Can’t hear it run even . John Grady from my iPhone not by choice
Don, Bill Frick Motors was maybe 10 miles from Great Neck, in Rockville Centre. He did all sorts of creative things with engine swaps and blower installations in the 50’s. Willie, as he was called, at some point had a very bad mishap with a spinning aircraft propeller that seriously impaired his work. Not sure what year that was. But I know for sure he was still fine through at least 1957, when a previous owner of my car tells me he was a Frick house guest while Willie tuned and serviced it for him.
I had the blower serviced by Paradise Wheels in CA. Who is rebuilding yours ?
Here are two photos of the motor today but I don’t know if they will make it through the Club firewall. If not I can send them individually to anyone who wants to see.

Hi Chuck, I have a 300 E that had a McCulloch supercharger installed when new. The original owner was from RI and he bought the car at North Boulevard Motors in Great Neck NY. I wonder if the same person did the install? Any information you can give me would be welcome. I have no history on the car, as the original owner was deceased before I got the car. The blower was still on the car when I got it in 1994. I just got it on the road with just the 2 4 barrels. I’m getting the blower rebuilt. Thanks, Don Sent: Monday, July 13, 2020 11:24 PM Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] Paxton 50s performance advert including a C-300 Apropos of this topic, I have a car that in 1956 received what today we'd call a crate motor, from a 300B, engine #3NE562038. The installation was done by renown builder Bill Frick on Long Island, NY. It appears to be a stock motor to which Frick added a McCullogh VS57A blower. I haven’t had it dyno’d or clocked but the power is quiet ample. If anyone wants to dive deeper I can send them photos. It is quite an installation, with a rather large custom air box surrounding the 2-4’s like I have never seen before. Chuck Glad the mail came through. What I am referring to was basically an advert for superchargers and no additional info, proof or pictures. The result of supercharging the C-300 was however significant, and I believe it has been discussed before here.

I don't remember seeing a C300 with super chargers. That would be interesting.. I remember Granitelli had a 300F with dual super chargers. Granitelli owned Paxton at the time. Your post came through the server fine. ------ Original Message ------ Sent: 7/12/2020 4:01:25 AM Subject: [Chrysler300] Paxton 50s performance advert including a C-300 - 3rd attempt Anyone remember this advert from Paxton (McCullogh) Industries in around 1956, showing performance gains (0-60 timeslots etc) for various cars having had a Paxton supercharger added. The icing of the cake was a C-300 with twin Paxtons at the bottom of the list. If I remember correctly, this was advertised doing 0-60 in less than 7 seconds. Do anyone have a copy/scan of this advert that I can get a digital copy of? Trying to source it on the internet gives nothing, but I believe it has been published in the 300 fraternity before.
Narve Nordanger Drove my C-300 today and remembered a nice story (but am really struggling to get Yahoogroups to accept my e-mails)
