Agree totally . I remember 300 F convert , brand new in a dealer window , yes on rotisserie , black , looking at it through window at night . Lexington Mass. Drove to just see it . Nose pressed to glass . I would have been 17. = I am going to get that car no matter what ! Overdid it —at one time had 9 F converts. Same with 60 Buick Electra 225 convert . ( still have one , only GM I really like — and the real competition to F ) . In 60 I remember an old timer down the street drove a 28 big stude . From Maine to Mass all the time , weekly, wooden spokes . Only ~ 30 years old, (!) seemed from 1000 years ago . 60 years to F is mind blowing . On the other hand , 300’s were a peak of a certain kind of engineering , like vacuum tube radios . That will never , ever change . They own that space ,55- 60 .
I skip whole Hemmings Chevy section , despite having at one point a FI 60 vette. Junk . Wow another small block chev . Wow . One of 3 million. Just me — but being honest . A Hudson 7x or flatty Ford much better .55 Dodge hemi even better ! On chev, one sees 55- 57 Chev more often than a Solara . When is last time you saw a 57 Dodge coupe? arguably far better looking? I have one , I have never seen another one in Mass . In 50 years. But younger guys do not see what we see.. Sent from my iPhone not by choice Sadly, it's just a sign of the times/demographics. When I was in my 30's (even mid 30's), it was still the 1980's, and at that time I was not in the market for a 60 year old car that I had never seen on the road while growing up. I never had any great desire to own any car that was older than I am. Most people want something from their youth, not pre-birth. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that my 'newest' old car, my Hurst, is going to be 50 soon. yikes! One of the reasons I got the Hurst is my dad bought a 70 Sport Fury new in the fall of 69, and I was a teenager with a license and had some early adventures in it. Those who were 16 in 1955 are approaching 80 years of age, and are most likely not in the market for buying cars of their youth. They either already have them, or are starting to think about selling them as they don't drive as often as they used to. More power to those who are still young at heart and healthy enough to enjoy them, too!
The problem with BAT is that most of the bidders are younger and a 300 just doesn’t have the interest factor or is it unique enough to generate interest of the dealers who buy a lot of cars on BAT
There are multiple eBay sniping services which do just that, and they do it for any client who is signed up with them, which might be several. In such a case, the client with the highest maximum bid wins. It’s all done by computer, so
one client doesn’t know what the other client's maximum bid is. But all of that’s applicable to eBay, not to Bring a Trailer. BaT resets the clock to two minutes after each bid, so sniping is eliminated. Each bidder has plenty of time to decide if he wants
to increase his bid, and since the clock gets reset to two minutes, there is no incentive to wait until the last few seconds..
Unfortunately (in my opinion) the terra-cotta F only reached $43,250, and did not meet its reserve. The general consensus of the opinions in the comments was that that was way too low, and personally I agree. From what I’ve seen, sometimes
cars on BaT bring all the money, and I’m surprised at the high level of bidding. Other times, for inexplicable reasons, the bidding seems to remain low. What’s really amazing to me is when a seller lists a $100,000 plus car at no reserve, and just takes a
chance. I’ve seen some no reserve auctions result in incredible bargains, and others go off for what seems unrealistically high. I guess you could say the same about the big televised auctions, like Barrett Jackson. It all depends on who’s watching, and who’s
bidding.
I was glad to see that there was a lot of love for letter cars expressed in the comments, even though no one stepped up and pulled the trigger on a more reasonable bid. The car still might get sold, though,
because the seller is given the high bidder‘s contact information, and they might work out a private deal. In that case, no buyers premium is due to BaT. If not, I hope the owner of the F has better luck in another venue.

There is a service that will place those last second bids for you. You give them your maximum bid and they will enter a bid just above the existing bid literally seconds before the auction closes.
I always wondered whether they would accept more than one client regarding a particular sale. Hopefully not!!!!

He said “if the car does not sell” --the way the sentence is written, means they do not chase you if it fails to go but you buy it later. I have heard but do not know that E bay tries hard to prevent that off site transaction
after an auction. . I love the 2 minute BAT reset, I did not know that. Lack of that is a big negative on E bay .Trolls place a bid 5$ more than you in last 10 sec. Has happened to me.

BAT does charge fees. It is a percentage of the selling price up to $5000. That fee is currently well over a $1000.

Allen, I’m pretty familiar with Bring A Trailor I know a couple of folks over there.
It’s a real auction and no they will not end it early under any circumstance.
I think the car is incredibly cheap right now. It should do close to $50.
Couple of recommendations to help you out, number one; click the contact seller and send them a note telling them you might be interested in it and ask any questions you might have about it.
Number 2: bid on the car, as a high bidder, if the car doesn’t sell, you’re entitled to negotiate with the seller and Bring A Trailor does not charge fees.
It really is a fantastic auction platform, one of the best in the business live or otherwise.

Hi
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy the car directly before the auction ends and what the buy it now price is?
I am also looking for a cheap 1960 Windsor in the East coast area. I need the body parts for renovation of my other cars, so this must be useable and it must be able to drive onto a transporter and later into a container.
Thank you very much for any information you can give me.
Thanks
Allan
