Re: [Chrysler300] 62 Oyster White available?

Agree totally with Noel , plus some real advice from smartest body guy I know .. does those fade and ghost paints on 100k motorcycles , stripes 200k restorations free hand (!) .
He swears by Sikkens ( sp?) paint system which I think is out of Germany ? Water borne too .may be what  is on Mercedes.  He imported a lot of expensive equipment — has matched   5-6 cars perfectly including difficult to do yellow and metallic silver .
The best paint jobs in New England  by reputation.
This has worked far better than chasing now obsolete formulas or paint types . Get an extra can too , expensive st 300 a quart but worth it

Hi Kai,
I’m no expert on paints, so can’t directly answer your question, offering the paint formula for Oyster White. But I do know there have been several emails in the past, discussing that even using the formulas from 50+ years ago will not necessarily bring you close to the correct shade, using modern paints. Best is if you have a section of your car, hidden all these years from the sun, and match to that color. It’s best to start with the Oyster White formula, then do ‘spray outs’ on small sections of spare metal, to find the best match, or find the shade you like best.
The Tech Section of our website has the Ditzler paint code. Perhaps there’s a cross reference that your paint supplier can use for the Glasurit cross-reference.

Hi Group,

As I am restoring my ‘62 300 sport convertible right now, my painter found out that Glasurit.com may supply colors or recipes for our cars.

He requested a sample of my Oyster White (WW) and the recipe.

They have plenty of other colors too.

It is important, that you put in “Chrysler” for the manufacturer but put in “all” for the model (not “300 series”).

You can name the correct year and choose your main color class, like “white” or “red” etc… and plenty of results will pop up.

Maybe this could be an option for anyone of our Club?

I am just providing this info - so far no experience.

Maybe someone of you already has?
