I'm not seeing any issue with the numbers. This car belongs to a club member and has been listed in the club VIN registry since at least 1995. SO date shows 1215 - I have notes on seeing a G that's two VINs later on our list and its SO date was 1216. Option codes look right: heater, white top, 5-button radio and tinted glass.

Judging by the data tag this was a very rusty car as mentioned. Very common for those VIN tags to come loose/fall off on rusty cars. The main thing I would be concerned with is the method and quality of rust repair

There is more than a few things of concern here. The VIN is screwed on, dead wrong, should be spot welded. The trim code plate (aka fender tag) is rotted and I suspect it and the VIN may be from a different car, Caveat Emptor. It’s a felony to mess with VIN tags by the way.

Anyone know the story on the above ? The last 6 of the vin are 139914 & the item number 163809782724. Car looks decent with a carpeted trunk and a couple of incorrect things.
