RE: [Chrysler300] 1960 Steering gear box

I have several boxes that are off the car for cores if anyone wants one.
Send it off for rebuild and not tie up the car for the meantime.
I made a crate to use when sending mine off to steer and gear in Ohio several years ago via UPS.
Worked very well as I recall
I still have the crate and could ship a core anywhere I guess if need be.
I also have a manual unit, just removed from a 57 Windsor, and a unit from a 57 New Yorker for sale as well.

I had my 62 removed and sent out for rebuilding.
I took my car to a trusted mechanic who was willing to tie up a space in his busy garage for several week.

My box was removed and sent to a place in LA who rebuilt, tested, and centered the box . It was gone for a week or so. Two issues came up (1,) the rubber boot sealing the steering column to the firewall was badly deteriorated and the coppers ground straps I think for the horn (?) were badly worn, At the time, Gary Goers stopped what he was doing and molded me a new boot and I made up the copper straps from copper shim stock. It worked out very well . It cost me $1200 including $250 for rebuilding the steering box. It made a big difference in how well my car steered. I debated removing it myself but chose ultimately to pay a professional.
