Re: [Chrysler300] Hemi Valve Cover Gasket advice needed

Bob Walker is nothing short of fantastic on anything hemi . He really is Mr early Hemi . Three other  items  of particular interest to us are an adapter block to put common 360 fuel pumps ( ethanol resistant) on our hemi and especially a beautifully made aluminum core plug that holds by a mechanical toggle and O ring . You do not want NOS rare fuel pumps with rubber that melts and cracks. . Blown core plugs are a horror show. Minutes is all you get before overheat , wrecking engine. Coolant dumps 100% in 20 seconds. Ask me how I know, common problem .
The third item is a machined aluminum adapter to put a modern spin on high tech filter (current  mopar is best ) ; 60 years of filter evolution. instead of the leaky messy can  .
As a club we should support hot heads all we can . Imho , as critical a guy in the long term as Gary . Plus a great guy who cares and will help you  .prices are excellent . Has rebuilt 392 starters too .
You may know he came in second in the engine masters  challenge with a 370”(?) ( overbored) 354 That made 660 hp at only 5500 rpm , idled nicely etc.  With his cylinder heads . He makes aluminum hemi heads from scratch . He uses the stuff himself , not just sells it, knows what works . No “hoping it is good “ needed. Plus a hemi only swap board and a tech question board.
Let’s go out of our way to heavily support the real good guy ! Catalog is great , maybe 5$

Hello Keith -

I got gaskets (and a LOT of other parts) for my '57 300C from Bob Walker at      www.hothemiheads.com    336-352-4866    Cork or black fiber are $16.00/set.  (I used the cork ones - they fit fine and no leakage.)  Very knowledgeable, quick and friendly, with personal conversation and advice from Mr Walker himself.  In particular, it was he who spearheaded the nationwide effort to have  STD/STD rod and main bearings reintroduced by King Bearings (Israel) after Federal Mogul and Clevite 77 stopped carrying them.  Good people.

What do the experienced advise regarding valve cover gaskets for the '57 hemi engine?

I called our local NAPA and the gentleman I talked to did not come up with a reference number for these. When I look online I see that perhaps Felpro may make what I need, and that Summit or JEGS may be the seller for them.

I also question whether to go with with standard cork gaskets, or to look for silicone rubber ones. All the photos I have seen of silicone gaskets show them in a bright blue. That would look way out of place on a car from the '50s, so unless someone makes them in clear I would lean to using the good old cork ones.

What advice and thoughts am I offered?

Thank you.
