Later Mopars are even worse..Dodge trucks with 4WD and 9 1/4 axle ..Or, Any Mopar truck with 9 1/4 axle--- that axle is awful in this regard. Pretty awful period!!!! compared to our 8 3/4 . I agree...worn ball and trunnion U joint a "comes with it" aspect of 300's --combined with fast idle and solid engagement of pre 727 trans..

I would say it would be more like a chime.

I believe it is somewhat normal, All my Chrysler products w/ball and trunion joints have done that IIRC.
Not to worry. It think it is the fore and aft action of the B&T that is responsible for the sound/noise
Does it do this under WOT acceleration?
If so, THEN THAT would be a problem
IMHO only, your mileage will vary I’m sure

Perhaps a worn U-joint or Trunion with lots of slack.

Good day to everyone out there in 300 Land!
On my 300E which runs fine, for some time I have had a "clank / clunk"
sound when the car moves / shifts between 2nd and 3rd gears but only when I don't apply gas and don't accelerate at a normal pace. When I move at a normal pace and it shifts, there is no sound! Can it be a bushing / transmission mount of some sort that is worn as there is no slippage or anything in the transmission!
Thanks to any and all responses in advance!
Sincerely,
Tom
