Tim, we on the parts committee are glad you like the 1964 300 door stars. The 65 300 door stars are in progress, so all you 64 300 guys, belly up to the bar and buy your door stars, they are very reasonably priced and like Tim stated, they
really dress up the interior. It is a small project that pays big rewards, be proud of your 64 300 and give it the best! By purchasing your 64 door stars it will help fund the 65 300 door star project. So you will be doing two things at once; one is improving
the looks of your car, and two is helping a fellow club member who has been waiting for the 65 300 door stars As a bonus to the club members who are planning on attending the spring meet in Bentonville, Ray Jones will have time scheduled for me to do a demonstration
of the install procedure on a 64 door panel. I will also have some door stars with me for purchase so that could be another reason for to you to change your thoughts and plan to attend. So here is an idea, come to the meet, visit with friends, look at the
cars, tour Bentonville, watch the door star demonstration, and buy some stars for your car, you can of course, do them in any order, just come to the meet. The procedure to install the 64 stars is on line that you can review any time at your leisure. See

along. It is mandatory to have all vestiges of the old adhesive completely removed. Use the Q tip and make sure it comes shows no brown residue on the final cleaning pass. This is a specific requirement of the 3M adhesive system which is used to bond the
star to the supporting chrome base. It can only work if the chrome base is completely clean of the old adhesive. The pressure sensitive nature of this adhesive requires the microscopic glue “ bubbles” to “pop” and bond with the smooth surface of the chrome
base when you press it into place with your fingers. We had the emblem manufacturer do some testing on different adhesive systems. We settled on this type of 3M product as it is the easiest to field install, provides the best bond and was the most cost effective.
Their testing revealed that lacquer thinner worked the best to remove the 40 year old adhesive. The testing also showed that if any old adhesive remained it would interfere with the tiny glue bubbles forming a permanent bond to the support base. See you soon
