I do have brass plugs on my block right now, two came off since the rebuilt, one on the dyno run and the second one yesterday on the road.not punched in enough? I will replace them with the Hot Heads stainless plug kit. Great Club! Try the regular dished freeze plugs but in brass (use a good amount of hard setting Permatex on the lip) or some time ago there was the type that you wrote about. It had a hex bolt that drew the plug up tight using leverage from the inside where it had 2 tangs to grab the block (like dry wall picture hangers do today. There is another type that didn't have the "fingers" that grabbed inside the back. It just sealed by squeezing the rubber plug by cranking the hex nut and compressing the plug. These were invented for use where you can't get a swing with a hammer to dent-in the regular ones. I used one of this type once because of this. The plug never gave me any problem after that. A good parts house with an older guy working there should know about this style. I never used the cup type because they are so thin and I never trusted them because of the way that they are made. Good luck! Dorman still makes them (Advance Auto Parts sells them here around us, look on the Internet and you'll find some.) If not I can bring some with me to Mystic. These are partly rubber and will seal and won't blow out but they are still rubber but as I said the one I used lasted for many years and never failed. Just keep your anti-freeze changed regularly. You are still coming to Mystic aren't you? Didn't you have some ram choke pots at one time? If you still have any, please bring 2 with you to Mystic. I need good ones for my F. Thanks again. Hope to see you again there! Maybe we can find another good steak house like we did at Carlisle last year. I thought someone a few months ago posted something about a plug that has some kind of mechanical holder built in the plug, grabs the inside of the block like a block heater plug maybe?? I was road testing my F , one plug came off while passing a vehicle at 80mph...makes quite a big cloud of white smoke! J.Y.
