They worked for me years ago when I had a car stored in an
outbuilding. I used them in the interior and trunk. But, if you have
a hood insulation pad, remember to place them on top of the air cleaner. I
didn’t think of that, and had mice nested in the hood pad. Fortunately,
they only chewed up the hood pad and not the wiring. And the dryer sheets
kept them out of the rest of the car. But, I drove the car home, parked in
the garage, and wound up with mice in the house. Lesson learnt. Got
a couple cats after that too. No more mice.

I used moth balls and dryer sheets the first year
the 300 was back home. Never again for the moth balls. It took half the summer
for the moth ball odor to disappear. Have used dryer sheets for the 10 years
subsequently -- never a problem. My wife's summer daily driver is stored in a
pole building for winters, in the country, with holes in the ratwall big enough
to let a large raccoon through. I know critters get in that building. The dryer
sheets have worked perfectly.
