Hi Dave, Regarding the hex hold down bolt/shaft oil leak. I fixed my leak by using faucet valve stem packing and wrapping it around and under the hex hold down bolt. The packing that I used was graphite-asbestos. This should fix your problem. John C. This is a problem I've not had to address in 40 years of ownership. Is there a method of resealing this area? Upon removal of the filter can/shaft assembly, it doesn't look easy to separate the shaft from the can.
