Re: [Chrysler300] 413 crank vibration damper

Hi Larry:

I know I have the right socket as I have removed this nut numerous times on my many Chryslers. I can't remember the size off hand as I am sitting at the airport.

I remove the nut using the socket and an 18-inch long breaker bar. The crankshaft rotates clockwise facing the bolt head. I attach the socket to the breaker bar, attach the socket to the bolt, and spin the crankshaft clockwise until the end of the breaker bar contacts the subframe. Once you position the breaker bar in this manner, clear the engine compartment, then hit the starter. The nut loosens as the crankshaft turns and then the breaker bar falls out of the way. That is cheaper than an air impact and just as effective.
