Re: [Chrysler300] 300B Power Steering Question

My 300C has the same groaning problem. When cold, it is not very
noticeable, but when it is warmed up, the noise is very annoying. I also
replaced my high pressure hose, and I believe I got it at NAPA quite a few
years ago (they don't list one now). It starts out about 9/16" for the
first third of the length, and then necks down to about 7/16" for most of
the remaining hose length. There is about a 3/16" diameter short metal
line which then goes into the steering gear (about 4" long). In the
earlier post here, there is mention of a smaller metal coupling in the
center of the high pressure hose but does the hose stay necked down as well
after the smaller diameter coupling, or does it go back to the original
size? I rebuilt my Thompson pump to no avail and then even replaced my
power steering pump with another one (Thompson) and it did the same thing.
So it does seem to be the high pressure hose causing this, but at least my
replacement hose doesn't seem to help either. If someone finds a hose
that fixes this, I would be very interested in obtaining one.
