RE: [Chrysler300] 1958 300D Power Steering Problem

Larry

Have you checked the adjustment of the spool valve on the gear box? That
valve equalizes the left, right pressures so the box does not self steer L
or R. The service manual will take you through the procedure.
Section 10 , STEERING, pages 21 & 22, paragraph 19a.

Call me if you want,

Thank you,

  Subject: [Chrysler300] 1958 300D Power Steering Problem

When I bought my car 4 years ago I noticed that the steering wheel would
not come back to center on its own after making a turn left or right
Also it steers real easy like I think it is supposed to

Over the last 4 years I replaced everything in the steering & front
suspension systems even the power steering gear

The only thing I have not replaced is the Power Steering Pump

I thought maybe if I added some additional positive caster over what was
recommended in the manual it might fix this

So I have 2 ½ degrees of positive caster now & the manual says between 0 &
1 ½ & the steering wheel still does not come back to center on its own after
a turn

Has anybody else had a similar problem & been able to figure out how to
fix it

  Any suggestions would be appreciated

  Thanks

  Larry Jabin
