I have a used Petronix before and its works great. The instructions say to eliminate the ballast resistor by connecting the two wires together which I did. I took the resistor apart and put a piece of wire with two terminals in the original ceramic block so it looks original. -----Original Message----- From: RICK AND DEBBIE CLAPHAM <rixpac@xxxxxxx> To: Rich Barber <c300@xxxxxxx>; mark6268 <mark6268@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; chrysler300 <chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sun, Feb 3, 2013 6:19 pm Subject: RE: [Chrysler300] Ignition Cables/Sure Grip or not? Rich; Being the Petronix connects to the Positive and negative sides of the coil, It cranks full voltage and runs on post resistor voltage. Limited slip differentials in good condition will rotate the wheels in the same direction in neutral and seem locked when only one wheel is lifted. I'm also curious as to whether the Petronix system starts on 12 V and runs on lower voltage fed through the ignition resistor-or just a full 12 V at all times? Second question: How does one check for a Sure-Grip differential in a non-op car? With one rear wheel jacked up and the tranny in neutral should the jacked-up wheel turn freely or lock up? With both rear wheels jacked up, does turning one wheel cause the other to rotate in the same or reverse direction? I am thinking about upgrading my ignition system.
