Hi Paul, Why don't you get the warm and fuzzies from that answer. The operative word was detergents! The trannies in these beasts leak enough without any help from modern detergents to open up more leaks. A well functioning tranny with a well meaning owner would spend a small amount of money to change the fluid and that buys him/her a tranny rebuild. But it will be clean! Friction for crisp shifts should be the operative word. BTW, F replaced A and FA replaced F. The F stands for Ford and the A stands for A thus FA a dual use tranny fluid.
