Re: [Chrysler300] Electronic Ignition

Ron....I have installed many on 383, 413, 440 engines. Very happy with the results. The motors are very quick to catch. I found that my 300F had the guts from the EI installed inside the factory cable driven tach and I didn't know it for 10 years. I found the orange box hidden under the battery tray when I removed the tray for powder coat. That lead to inspection of the distributor insides for the very first time in a decade. Later my 300L had a serious pre-ignition problem that would not go away. After adding the EI, problem solved. The 300L was the only one that ever had a failing ecu but it never really just quit....just stopped until it cooled. A new ecu from Filko obtained at a gas station solved that one. I always carry a spare with me for long distance trips but have never had to use it. Current fleet with Mopar EI are 48 Windsor (440), 60 300F, 63 300 Sport 413, 66 300 rag (383)

Subject: [Chrysler300] Electronic Ignition

Hello, everyone:
As a followup to the conversations about Pertronix, I would like some input on
he Chrysler performance electronic ignition system. I recently found in my
arts inventory a Chrysler ingnition performance kit (part no. P3690427 with
4120505 orange ECU). I bought it at Carlisle more than 10 years ago for my '64.
Has anyone had any experience with this ignition system they would like to
hare? Should I switch to Pertronix? Thanks.
Best,
on Kurtz
