RE: [Chrysler300] Re: Top down

Owning and using a convertible has much more than just 'top up' or 'top down' - and all comments below can be related to 300 one in some ways.

1) Like a convertible with 'top up and windows up', if it a well designed and built one, is not that different to a sedan, unless one travelling at say over 70-80 mph and the fabric starts to suck up, let in noise.
2) Windows down, top up, can be great new experince, be it day, night, country, whatever.
'Top down' has already been covered. But one of better options if not wishing hair messed up, nor wind blown, is 3) 'top down, side windows up' - works great in many converts if travelling, be it even in city streets. Works real good in smaller US converts, such as '68 Shelby GT500 I had up to over 80mph in country, around 65mph in '65 Cutlass. Even worked good in my full sized late 50s Cad Converts. And my 1st 'convert', was a tired but stuill great/cool, Cadillac 49, done 160,000 miles, burned pint of oil to gallon, but still won looks from then top aussie female hottie TV actress on brief run round town/block.
My '1st convert' 'maybe?!' was my 1st car - '30 A Ford Deluxe Roadster. That was before somebody invented the name, 'selling point perhaps' ?! All early pre mid 30s cars were open in base form, the closed ones being the dearer, less common early on.
(Reminds me when I too young to drive, my dad driving, we in my '30 A Roadster, sitting on happy 55mph, cool morning - cop on a motorcycle pulls alongside, says looks like we enjoying ourselves, asks where we headed (easy to do/talk as no side windows, no fabric sidescreens on that morning). He rides alongside briefly, then pulls in in front, sits about 20 feet in front, gives up like a Police escort for the maybe final 15 mins of trip/journey - double bonus, we felt the heat off his bike, it warmer then, not so cold. So ther you are, experience owning a 300 Coupe may give, plus one extra if you using a convert??!!)

But I still say to people, if you get the chance, grab a convertible - it is sort of like 'life's bucket list' - if you have the chance before you die, grab it. And sure there are sometimes (minor) drawbacks, but the wins outweigh them by so many (sure you get smells from around you, but hey, so do you in tintop with windows down??!) . And final bonus, when you/wife/lady gets tired of it, it will get you 2-3 times price of tintop usually.
(but all bets off if you asked to ride in open rear rumble seat of old pre mid 30s car on frosty morning if travelling in country at speed!!!?? - one experience to not put high on bucket list)

Christopher (being an Easter Forrest Gump like - 'life is a bowl of cherries' ) in Australia - yesterday cursing refitting 300C front little chrome vent assemblies below the headlights - 300C/D Members/people always asking what colour the red on mesh was, mine was still near mint inside, it like a just slightly darker Chevy engine orange.

Look around and enjoy the view, but don't forget to keep your eyes on the
road. I learned the hard way a few months after I bought my first
convertible.
