Not sure how well it would penetrate the paint without knowing more about it. I refinished my ’68 Caddy seats using their products (Leatherique, Prestine Clean, and their dye) and it worked just fine. We did peel/scrub off all of the original lacquer-based dye with laquer thinner and toothbrushes first to get the best redying results (ask my wife about how much fun we had doing that!)

Does it work where the leather has been spray painted to rectify leather coloring or will the leatherique remove the paint. I have been told that it probably would do so but I would like to know if anyone has had personal experience.

I'll heartily endorse Leatherique as well. I used it on some 40-year
old, cardboard-stiff leather Cadillac seats and it made them like glove
leather. Likewise on a 25-year old leather jacket. The "Prestine
Clean" cleaner that came in the kit pulled out an unbelievable amount of
dirt from both as well. Somewhat expensive, but well worth it.
