This certainly is confusing to say the least, I'm glad my G is a late build car and I could get the correct wire set from them.  
 
So,  any members out there with an original wire set from a '60 or earlier that can verify they had GM stamped on them?  What stamping is on the wire set sold by Atlas?  Curious minds want to know.

Hi Group, 

I hesitate sending this, but here's a fairly recent email chain I had with Gil C, and Gil's exchanges with Greg Hanna, president of Lectric Limited. 

I purchased a set of plug wires for our F from Lectric - had my wife pick them up from their shop in late September, since they're a short drive from here - cost $75.00. A month before purchasing these wires from Lectric, I purchased a set from Atlas ($69 + $12 shipping), and planned to use those, until I received considerable negative input from Club members. 

When I ordered the wires from Lectric, I asked them to install the red nipples on Plugwire #1 and the coil wire, but was advised by Lectric that they did not stock the these  - so all are black going into the distributor cap . The #3 wire is indeed bent at an obtuse angle. Lectric makes up the wires to order, and had them ready for me in 2 days.

Guess we have to go with the expert.  In my last response (see below) I said as much.  I have no idea why my wires were different----as I said before, one is wrong!!!  He did not respond, nor did I really intend for him to do so.  GM, etc, etc. it is!!!

Greg, what can I say?  I know what I received, and what I installed.  My restored 300F not only did not have any old "original" wires, it didn't even have an engine when I acquired it!   The wires are what they are, but if you state the ones sent to Noel are correct, then that is fine by me.  You are the expert in the field, not me.

I checked all my records and have found that the set I sent to you in 2004 was part #6302-000. This set is the same set that Noel Received and was made with the same wire and script as the wire as Noel’s. Is it possible you never installed the wires we sent to you and that you re-installed your old “original” wires? Perhaps you put the wire set that we sent to you aside to be put on at a alter date?

Sorry to belabor this subject, but..... 

My car is a 1960 not a 1961.  It is the same model (300F) as Noel Hastie's. It does not, to my knowledge, have a date code on the wires.  You told me it should not have at the time.  I remember sending you a wire but I just don't quite understand why a Packard wire reproduced for the same car----1960 Chrysler 300F----should be different in 2011 than it was in circa 2005.  It still seems like one is wrong, no matter what.  If the wire I sent at the time was wrong, I would not have wanted it copied.  If the current thinking is that the 1960 Chrysler Packard wires should be as sent to Noel, with the "GM"  (I see they became part of GM in 1932!) then so be it.  I will probably be ordering a new set, as some of mine suffered heat damage over the years.

The reason you received the wires with Packard & the date code is that the original set you sent to me had the date codes. If you car is a 1961 model built after feb/march 1961 then it probably could have come with the Packard date coded wire.  I am sure the wire script on the set that we sent is appropriate for your 61. 

  

Yes the GM stands for General Motors (they owned Packard Electric).

Then my wires were made wrong??  Can we do anything about that?  Club members do look at my car at the meets as sort of a guideline to proper restoration.  I have tried very hard to get things correct so people would not be misled.  

What does the "GM" stand for?  People will ask immediately if it is General Motors.

Gil Cunningham here---Chrysler 300 Club, Int'l.  As you may remember I, and another member worked with you to develop the correct 1960 300F and 1961 300G sparkplug wiring a few years ago (2005?).  My car has on it either the first or the second set made, if I am not mistaken.  At that time you said in 1960 Packard did not date their wires, so mine do not carry dates.  All well and good. 

  

Now, I am very perplexed with the wires sent to Club member Noel Hastalis which say "RADIO GM".  Mine, as done those 5--6 years ago, say  PACKARD  TV-R  SUPPRESION CABLE - USA.  This verbiage is preceded by a circular "logo" with three "lobes".  

  

One of these arrangements must be wrong?  Could you please enlighten?  Thank you for your help.

Noel, The wires you have, have the correct script as used until very late 1961 model. Your  car is a 1960 Model so it used the Radio GM script.
