John Kuegel and others,
Good for you, John, to write to them with your questioning of the Belvedere.
Our Canadian members can certainly shed more light on this subject, but I was under the impression that a common practice by Chrysler in Canada in the '50s typically featured the basic Plymouth car with a Dodge front clip. And of course other badging.
That car in the quiz certainly looks completely like an American Plymouth Belvedere.
Guess they couldn't admit making a mistake.
Any Canadian members care to join in on this discussion?

Gil and everyone,
-I wrote to the American Torque website and notified them of the Savoy photo really being that of a Belvedere (I mean, if you're going to have a trivia quiz...maybe the details should be correct!!), and the response was that it was truely a Savoy, but a Canadian issue...my response to them on that was: no fair!!...trick question...when all the cars are supposedly American and the website even is called "American....." I assumed that the all the cars were American issue cars...On other continents, American export cars from the 1950's were sold as new current models in the 1960's...imagine if they threw a few of them in the quiz??? ......all in good fun!!

Don and All:
I think the Bel Air in 1952 was Chevy's name for their hardtop. (Like
Victoria for Ford and Newport for Chrysler.) Yes, the "Savoy" was a
Belevedere---correct spelling Don??? Got it out of my old Motor Trend. Yes, this
old guy got them all right too. Don't want to try my hand at any other
decade, though. If they had both the '52 and '53 Mercs, I might have been in
deep do-do. Well, enough of this illegal list server talk!

I got all of them also. There were a few models that were identified with
the wrong series - such as the Savoy vs. Belvidere. 1953 wasn't one of
the choices given for that Mercury quiz, thus making it much easier.
