Doug and All:
My Source, Richard Langworth's The Postwar Years Chrysler and Imperial,  
agrees.  In fact he specifically  states that the 1971 '62 300  convertible 
production figure does include the 123 300H converts.  So,  it looks like 1848 
is the figure for the sport '62 300s.

Rich Barber sent me a listing of "Chrysler 300 Production"  that shows 1848 
units for the 1962 Sport Convertible. 
My "Standard  Catalog of Chrysler" book shows 1971 units 

I think that the 1971  number includes both the Sport and H convertibles. 

1971 total  convertibles minus 123 H convertibles = 1848 Sport 
convertibles.
