[Chrysler300] 1958 300D Fresh air door vent spring

The Fresh air vent has a torsion spring that attaches to the door that swings open

Mine spring is broken

I can see that one arm of the spring attaches to a tab on the door not sure where the other arm of the spring would go

Does the spring keep the door closed or open?????
