[Chrysler300] 1964 Chrysler 300 Kwestions

Just sharing some feedback on my Kwestions on '64K's.

 

Leather seating in black or white was an option in 1964.  Side panels were
all vinyl.

Torqueflites were cast iron body through '61, aluminum case thereafter with
no parts interchange.

Differences between '64 K car Torqueflites and other Chrysler big block
Torqueflites include the shift linkage in the valve body (Floor shift vs.
push button).  Also, the governor is thought to be the same as a J-a
higher-speed governor.

Only the hemi Torqueflites had the extra clutches.  Standard configuration,
including on K's, is four clutches each, front and rear.  Some folks
indicate the ram cars may also have had extra clutches, so perhaps that
Kwestion is still open.

 

The hard part for me to find will be the front header bar in the convertible
mechanism/frame.  I'd really like to hear from anyone with a spare and
willing to sell it.  I'll also need all the side panels, but I don't know
yet whether my new '64Konvertible has power windows or not.

 

There is feedback that the top mechanism is different between '63's and '64
Chrysler convertibles with the '64 rear quarter window being longer.

 

Gloria says the car is new to the registry.  The curious may still view the

I intend to document the restoration which should be mainly mechanical and
interior.
