I haven't seen anyone mentioning the other more likely reason the pulleys were not alined. That could be that the rubber mounted pulley sheeve on the Harmonic Balancer has moved forward some. You might want to check that. And, you always want to check the front cover. I have seen several that were eaten out from the impeller blades going deeper and deeper as the wear increased. When a new pump is installed, there will be too much clearance behind the blades and not enough water will be pumped.
