Sounds like alot of time to tweak some pipes for clearance...... Most shops can custom fabricate a complete system, install it, and tweak it to clear everything in about 3 hours. Just sayin'..... Yes Mark your right! I just got back from where Melissa was and the Dave from the other place remembers my exhaust pipes being a problem! Dumb me! What is really cool is that Dave from a 'little farther down Valley Center Road', specializes in Mufflers. After all, he is 'Valley Center Muffler'!!! Okay, enough.....he said my situation is about a half days work. I believe him because he explained to me that a pipe 'down at this section', cannot be fixed until, 'this other section of pipe', is fixed or moved away from frame, cross members, rear axle housing, etc.. ... Well, I'll be keeping you all informed. Thanks again Mark!! ;-D Sincerely & 300ly, Brandt H J w/ a G. --- On Tue, 10/26/10, Mark Souders <MRS954@xxxxxxx> wrote: From: Mark Souders <MRS954@xxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] G vibration/grinding noise in rear To: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Tuesday, October 26, 2010, 4:36 AM Brandt, My guess is that your exhaust pipe is too close to something else underneath the car. Check you clearance between the pipes and tranny, crossmembers, driveshaft, shocks, gas tank, etc. My rule-of-thumb is if I can put a finger between the pipes and other surfaces, it's good to go. If not, when you "get on it" the flex of the driveline could close a gap and cause a vibration or rattle. Is that normal!? . And now folks, the latest problem! Melissa is vibrating intermittenly (ugh), hen in both (D) drive and (N) nuetral and it sounds like it is coming from the ear. However, I'll bet my trans and/or engine mounts are gone and the engine unning is vibrating metal to metal and 'shooting the sound back to the rear'! I ad her make the noise again this time in nuetral so I set the parking brake, ent down along ground and listened, crawled along rear right around corner to assenger side where the rattling, clanking seemed more apparent in noise around he tranny/engine area. Is my theory perhaps correct here? Suggestions? Thanks ons in advane!! incerely & 300ly, Brandt H J w/ a G.
