Item 8 works well on the tapered hub drums on our '55.  Not a beautiful
tool, but HFS and last forever.

 

In any case, with a tapered hub, be sure to leave the nut on the axle end,
backed off enough for removal-but enough threads engaged to prevent
launching the drum when it pops off the axle.
