For anyone replacing a dash pad with the Just Dashes or new Swedish made pad on a C it's a straightforward job. The toughest part is getting under the dash to release the clips on the defroster outlets. I think it was easier removing the radio to access the clips. It's easy to get sidetracked cleaning all the bits that have been removed and parts of the dash that were never accessible before. It is a good time to consider repainting the defroster outlets, speaker cover and dash moldings. Also consider reconing the radio speaker if its torn. Remember to cover the carpet. The old foam under the dash pad willl have an incredible stickiness to it and stains the carpet or anything fabric a brown/orange color. I doubt the stains will come out. I used a Just Dashes pad. That pad fit nicely but had a fair amount of flash around the openings that had to be trimmed with a razor knife. It's easy to slip. The Swedish pads may not have that flash problem. Adelaide has a desert to the North and the Southern Ocean and Antarctica to the South so the weather depends on which way the wind blows. Chris, move to Brisbane. It is much more pleasant. 1 Why bother with a silent chain? They wear out quicker and even cost more. I got my premium double roller chain and sprockets from Performance Automotive Warehouse in the US to suit 392 for US $40. Buy new keys at the same time. PAW provides very good service with parts at your door in one to two weeks. 2 Just keep pulling the bits off until there is nothing left covering the vinyl. Not a small task. I tried to get mine remade locally but found it was cheaper to import one from Sweden - because they already have the moulds and the guy here is a #*@*!. I haven't put it on yet but it looks perfect. 3 Read the 57 Service Manual to see what you need to do. It is very comprehensive. You can get them on ebay for US$40 if you don't have one. Getting the transmission in and out is probably the hardest thing. 4 I'd like to know too - no rush though. Note to 300C/D/E owners with spares. I am still chasing a chrome air scoop bezel - any condition. Please look on the Parts Wanted section of the club website. Global warming - who really knows, since the bulldozer and chainsaw invented lots of trees/rainforrest chopped down, maybe that a possible best cause??! few 300 Questions (1) is the timing chain in a 300C 392 the same as 318s, wedges, and what are better brands still available without going double row? (2) does the dashtop of a 300C just unbolt/unscrew fairly easily so you can better recover the original vinyl that is pretty sad on least loved 3rd 300C, and what is best way (steps) to remove one? (3) how big/nontricky a job is it to put a new convertor seal in a cast iron torquefilight if one removes/unbolts it from the motor/car? (4) what happened re maybe making replacement plastuic armrest bases for 300Cs - any news/updates?
