Hello Henry-down-under, This is an answer to your question "How does an engine with an older casting number get a newer serial number?". All engines get a casting number when cast. They get a serial number when used. If I should cast and store engines in August, September and October and then use the castings from October, August and September, more or less in that order, the newer castings would get the older numbers and the older castings would get the newer numbers. I hope this is clear to you, as now I'm confused. 300'ly, Gary Hagy in hot, humid Hamburg, PA USA. In a message dated 9/12/2009 1:24:26 A.M.
