I'm sorry I did not ever get to meet Vern Graber but I am enjoying reading the kind words describing and remembering him by some of his many friends and acquaintances. We should all conduct ourselves in life to be held in this high regard by our family, friends and acquaintances. It occurs to me that Vern's approach to his hobby and his fellow hobbyists might serve as a model for all of us. I realize the hobby attracts folks with widely varying personalities, education, skills, communications ability, wealth, age, language and egocentricity but suggest that adopting an attitude of humility, curiosity, tolerance, service and appreciation for others in the hobby and their cars and interests would be beneficial for the continuity and growth of our hobby and clubs. It would be a great legacy for Vern if more of us could adopt some of his style. I do feel the ranters and ravers are very much in the minority in our hobby so most of us only need a minor tune-up. However, some do need a major overhaul. We have enough conflict in our country and world--there is little value in further destructive dissension in our hobby. Around the country there are thousands of people serving their car clubs on a volunteer basis as officers, editors, email moderators, publishers, writers, judges, meet hosts & hostesses, consultants, historians, hospitality room hosts and hostesses, photographers, flyer distributors, store managers, treasurers and all the other jobs that are required to make a car club go and grow. My personal thanks to all of you who serve our clubs hobby in some small or large way. Just some thoughts. No need for another dialog on the server. Please address any thoughts on this missive to me personally. Mick and I plan to bring a "memory book" to Lancaster with photos of Vernon from different meets, and blank pages where folks can write their memories and notes to Nancy and Tom. We'll mail it to her afterwards. So . . . please, please, please . . . if you have photos you can contribute, send them directly to me by e-mail attachment (kreszocmh@xxxxxxxxxxxx) or regular mail (PO Box 2191, Boone, NC 28607), by Monday, May 4th. Include a sentence or two about the shot, like Rob does below (who, where, when), if you will. It is a beautiful day here in NC as we fondly remember our dear friend and treasure the gift of being a member of the 300 Family.
