I agree that he's quite pricey, but I only wanted to do it once, and his quality and craftsmanship is impeccable. A classic example of "You get what you pay for." Well worth the cost. Dennis did my 300F wheel last winter and although I almost choked on the price, $1300 +$30 shipping, his work is impeccable as he does not use any paint but casts everything in the proper color and handles the replating himself. So far so good and the lifetime guarantee helps--although come to think of it I should have found out how old he is and got a copy of his medical records because I have to assume that the lifetime guarantee refers to his lifetime and my preconceived notion that someone young doesn’t do the quality work that Dennis does! I should have copied all, but hit the wrong button. My H sits in an unheated garage and spends a lot of time in the summer sun. Still no cracks or yellowing. The=2 0gold part on my wheel is gold plastic, not painted. Hi Johnnie, I had my H steering wheel restored by Dennis Crooks of Quality Restorations in San Diego. www.qualityrestorations.com phone 858-271-7374. Two years ago it cost me $1125 plus shipping, but he warrants it for lifetime against cracking and yellowing. I had quotes from others, but they wouldn't stand behind their work. There is a place in western PA that thought he was the only guy in the world who restores them. He wanted $600 for me to send my wheel to him, he would strip off the old plastic, send back the steel frame for ME to replate and send back to him. He then wanted to cast the whole wheel in clear, then paint the bottom half with gold enamel. I could just imagine the first time I scratched it and the clear plastic would show through. I told him "no thanks." Dennis's job was to remove the plastic, replate the frame, then cast the clear, then the gold plastic, then polish it to perfection. I'm very happy with the job and quite proud of my investment. It's the highlight of the interior, and worth every penny spent. I've attached a picture for your enjoyment.
