answered to only one person, and the rest of us don't benefit from the
knowledge shared.  I've had this same question, but on my G.  Is the only
place shims are available is from parts cars?  What about the gasket?

Hi Again,

The Service Manual does not mention any Axle flange gasket, but Napa and
AutoZone show a gasket. Neither show shims are still available.

Can anyone tell me if the gasket came along later, perhaps as a fix? Or
maybe this was used on 1965 and up?
If the gasket is used, then the steel shims would be affected for the
0.013-0.018 inch axle end play.
Any advice is welcome. My 300 is apart at the mechanic and he does not know
whether to use the gasket along with the shims.

Does anyone know how to obtain the following shims for the rear axle,
'63-'64 300?
I assume that a combination of these are used to get the correct 0.013-0.018
in. axle shaft end play?

0.005 thick 2070866
0.012 2070868
0.030 2070870
