Richard, My G tank came out of a Arizona car, outside it looked great, inside had rust on lower surface. Rad shop that boiled it out said it will just keep rusting, so I had it coated on the inside with the black stuff (Renu, I think) that they bake on. Sometime this weekend, I will put in some gas and start this beast. For now, I can say it looks good and appears impervious. That's my story (with limited experience) and I'm sticking to it... John Begian just another black G ragtop... Richard Osborne <richard@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Howdy, I took the gas tank out of the G convertible this weekend (this is a very rusty restoration project). It had a couple of gallons of something that used to resemble gasoline sloshing around. I laid it on each side and could not detect any leakage. Could I be lucky enough to have a solid tank? Never had to repair/replace a tank due to rust. Although the trunk floor is very rusty, the pad between tank and floor looks great. I'll get it boiled/cleaned out, do these tend to rust from inside out?
