OR you could do what so many others have done in the past when dealing with arcing contacts, protect them with a capasiter and resister wired in series, then wired across the + - contacts of the clock, this aids in preventing the arc when contacts are made/broke. Sort of like the capasiter on your coil, and inside your distributor.
