Victor, This is a common problem with F and G ram cars. Installation of an electric fuel pump at the tank outlet line is the fix. I've had one installed for many years on my G and just replaced it a year ago because the original wore out. The new pump is a Facet fuel pump I got from John Lazenby (on the list) through his company, openroadint.com, 877-673-6960, the part number is FEP12S. You need to install a switched power wire to it from a point under the dash that you control during the start up. I do not leave my pump energized all the time for safety reasons, and just let the mechanical pump do it's job in the normal fashion once the car is started. If I let the car sit ,after driving, for a few days I have to crank the engine for about 30 seconds before I even get a hint it might start. Is anyone having a similar problem? Also if an electric pump is put at the rear will it pump thru the mechanical pump when the engine is running? Someone mentioned to use the elec. pump to just prime the carbs. for when it sets the heat of the engine evaporates most of the fuel in the bowls &causes a very small squirt from the accelerator pump until the manual pump fills the bowls.
