Re: [Chrysler300] Old wife's (mechanics) tales

Ok I do not recall anyone mentioning this,

when the crankcase is FULL , the crank (in motion) smacks into
the pooled oil, casting the spray up on the lower cavities of the
block, cooling and oiling are the expected results of this action.

Now thats the positive results as envisioned by the engine-eers.

The Negitive results are the foam generated by the violent action
of rotating crank throws smacking into the oil, and the drag that
this causes upon the crank. Thats why oilpan windage trays are
used in lots of hi-performance buildups of motors.

Running about 1 quart low in the oilpan (after running from a oil
change) usually causes the same result as having the windage
tray. no cranky smacky da earl.

Pontacks ( of the 60's era) were Noted for running better 1 quart
low.

the downside of all this, You have to be more carefull with your
monitoring of your earl levels, More Frequent level checks should
be the norm. in udder woids, check your earl levels every time
you gas up yo beast.
