[Chrysler300] 'Melissa's' (my G's) engine blew or 'sucked' a ring!

Hello everyone in 300sville. Sorry, I can't put an exclamation mark after my greeting because of disappointment! Oh well, Melissa's engine rebuild got just over a whopping 30,000 miles on her, then she 'took a dive". I don't even hot rod it (like I used to). However, here's the news: 30% cylinder leakage from cylinder #1 and some more on cylinders 3 and 5 I believe.. Yes, it's perhaps a busted compression or oil ring, unfortunately coming from the bottom end! The whole engine as you all know will have to come out. The local shop that rebuilt my engine did a leak down test. I feel it's not the shops fault for my occurence but a particular individual who used to work there that rebuilt my engine who's to blame. He's a hyper person who just likes to get the job done. Put it this way, he installed my rebuilt engine and rebuilt both Carter carbs if I remember correctly in FAR LESS THAN 1 DAY!! Okay, enough of putting someone down, nobody's perfect. After all, I've 'hot rodded'
the engine on more than one occasion during it's last 30k miles. I am getting into the solution, I believe I'll have Jeff Carter from JC Auto rebuild the engine a year from now when I have the funds. I know his ability for synchronizing carbs on a long ram 413 is fantastic as well! The engine I believe was bored out the last time not more than 40 over and I understand that 60 over is the very limit for the 413 engine. The compression ratio will be the factory 10.1:1. (It's 9.6:1 I believe right now). I know here where to get the correct fuel locally for the 10.1 ratio. I am getting a qoute from this particular shop tomorrow and heck may give them another shot if the price seems right. I just don't know yet. Melissa still runs but BARELY. The compression is so bad that she wants to stall when stopping at a light, smoking of course. Any suggestions for any other good engine rebuilding place in Southern California!? By the way, our next Club News will have the short story of
Melissa obviously without this latest "great' news. Well, got to run but I'll keep you all posted!!

  Sincerely & 300ly, Brandt H. J. w/ a very crippled G.
