I received the following from another C-300 aficionado who shall remain nameless. In case you haven't seen this yet, there is a C-300 on E-bay (280153195232) It's like a contest to find all the flaws with this one. Call me a nit picker but for 70 some thousand dollars, it should be very near perfect. This guy must like red based on all the over-spray on the door seals. The gas pedal would have to be distracting while driving. Both yours and my Chrysler has trouble stopping with a booster, how would you like to stop this one? Right before you hit into someone, you could lean over to the glove box and make sure you look good enough for an ambulance ride. I can't figger out what's wrong with the front seat, but the seat backs look under nourished. Maybe his seat adjuster knob is correct and mine is wrong. Hate the seat belts, mainly because so far that's all I can come up with myself. If you come up with a belt fabric that looks original, let me know please. Even with all its faults it a good reference for the jack and the cardboard panels in the trunk. I'm going to keep it on my favorites for a long time. Thought you'd enjoy. I appreciate his pointing out the car and hope he won't mind me sharing his pithy comments. While his observations are correct and even my partially-trained eye picked out at least 15 variations from stock, this remains a very attractive car and the photography shows many details of a very sanitary '55. Either now, or at some time in the past, the owner was a club member who had the car dolled up to suit his or her taste. And, perhaps, this will turn out to be a financial success. More power to the owner, but most of the dressup details detract from the basic beauty, IMHO. Anyone with the least interest in the original Chrysler 300 letter car should go to this site and scroll through the many pictures. http://tinyurl.com/2my9za But, check with our club experts before you paint your brake pedal red--or chrome your glove compartment door. Keeping these brutes as they were from the factory is a valid and rewarding option. You want chrome rocker arm covers with red letters? Buy a Bel Air or a Fairlane and have at it. If you a True Believer, buy the Tango and spend a couple of grand to make it museum-quality. If the car shows up at a meet, it will draw a crowd and I will be in it. I'm sure the car already draws crowds wherever it is shown. The modifications are mostly superficial and are apparent, meaningful and aggravating only to we students. All are easily reversible to original 1955 state-of-the-art. The basic design is timeless fine and mechanical art and will continue to draw crowds for years to come. Reactions to this rant welcomed.
