Hi Milt,

Interesting, I guess it does offer some further proof that there were two types produced.  I'm only guessing here but possibly it was discovered that it was difficult to open with the extra bar and engineering simply chose to eliminate it.  Also I wonder if your hood release arm comes forward as far as the missing bar examples?  Perhaps Wayne Graefen can add more to this conversation.
