I have only had one experience with my car and it was wonderful. It involved a video for a cable channel segment. I was referred to the production company by one of our own members who knows who he is (Thanks again). I will however caution any and all about loaning or allowing your pride and joy to be used in a full length movie production. You must remember that with all of the people on the set (behind the scenes production people) just the labor alone can run into the multi-tens of thousands of dollars PER DAY. On top of that is the cost of all of the film or video and audio equipment as well as the props, scenery, catering, mobile dressing rooms .... the list goes on and on. The incidental cost of putting someone's car into the scene is inconsequential in the overall scheme (or cost) of things. As it was pointed out, your car is just a prop to them. Actually some of the other props can also run into the tens of thousands of dollars in value. When that is factored into a DAILY cost of production that can easily exceed a couple of hundred thousand dollars, they really don't care about your car at that moment. Their immediate priority is to get the film in the can in as timely a fashion as possible so they can get onto the editing and post production tasks. As anyone who has ever been involved with an entertainment production knows, whether it is a movie, video, theme park exhibit, or live play, the opening date is planned months ahead of time and the merchandising team is constantly pushing and advertising this date to get the product into the hands of the public for a quick return on their investment. The opening date WILL NOT CHANGE, no matter what gets in the way, (even acts of God). Whoever is the last person who has to work on that product has to make up any time that has been lost or squandered by those who have preceded him or her. I just thought I might put things in perspective for some of you out there in the dark theater.
